On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am pleased to welcome you to the 2nd Endocrine Pharmacy Conference 2025 with the theme “Restoring Balance: Hormones in Harmony’ which will be held from 23rd to 24th August 2025 at The Vertical, Connexion Conference and Event Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This conference is organized by the Pharmacy Department of Hospital Putrajaya and co-organised by the Pharmaceutical Services Division, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya State Health Department in collaboration with the Malaysian Pharmacists Society.
The conference aims to be a platform for knowledge exchange among pharmacists and healthcare professionals in the field of endocrine pharmacy. We have planned a scientific programme that will showcase the recent advancements in endocrine pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice delivered by esteemed expert speakers. Among the highlights of this conference is pharmacotherapy of obesity, thyroid diseases, type 1 diabetes, adrenal disorders and pediatric growth disorders besides diabetes technologies and insulin de-intensification.
This conference will also showcase the latest developments in the industry concerning endocrine treatment through exhibitions. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doreen Tan Su-Yin
Cardiology Specialist Pharmacist, National University Heart Centre, Singapore

Prof Doreen is an Associate Professor at the NUS Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Cardiology Specialist Pharmacist at the National University Heart Center, Singapore. She is actively involved in clinical practice and precision medicine research.
-
She led the grant for "iRight4Me Antiplatelet Therapy," a project on CYP2C19-guided antiplatelet individualization, which enrolled 1007 patients before concluding in February 2024. She also serves on the National University Health System’s Steering Committee for Pharmacogenomics, contributing to education and training by integrating cardiology-related pharmacogenomics into undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy curricula.

Prof Doreen is a co-investigator for Precision Health Research’s Clinical Implementation Pilot (PRECISE CIP) and the principal investigator of "DTSY Statin Therapy," a Ministry of Education-funded study on statin pharmacogenomics, which began recruitment at National University Polyclinics in April 2024.

Her interests also extend to translational research and digital health interventions. She is the pharmacist lead for AMI-HOPE, a Ministry of Health-funded program delivering digital-based post-myocardial infarction care through specialty-trained collaborative prescriber pharmacists. Additionally, her study AdLip, under the CADENCE program, explores AI-assisted adherence to lipid-lowering medications and will begin recruitment in June 2024.

Dr. Nalini M.Selveindran
Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist, Hospital Putrajaya

Dr. Nalini M Selveindran graduated from University of Malaya with honours in 2001 and subsequently obtained the Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2006. She subsequently completed her fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Children’s Hospital of Westmead, Sydney in 2015. She is currently a consultant paediatric endocrinologist at the Hospital Putrajaya, a major referral hospital for endocrine disorders in Malaysia

She is currently a member of various medical societies, including the International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD), European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES) and Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS).

She is involved in training and teaching and is involved in the development of guidelines on the management of congenital hypothyroidism and childhood obesity., Dr. Nalini’s work has been published in various academic journals and she is also involved in multicentre international research for type 2 diabetes in children. She has numerous experiences presenting in conferences and workshops locally and abroad and has won various awards for her work. She has also received the Travel Grant to the International Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) Annual Congress in Brisbane, 2015.

Prof. Dr. Firdaus Mukhtar
Consultant Clinical Psychologist,Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Universiti Putra Malaysia

Professor Dr Firdaus was born in Kuala Lumpur and is the Past President for the Asian Cognitive Behavior Therapy Association (ACBTA) and currently serves as Training and Accreditation of World Confederation CBT. In Malaysia, she works as a Professor and Consultant Clinical Psychologist at Psychiatry Clinic, Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, UPM.

She was appointed as a Global Leader Ambassador 2023 and was the first Honorary Secretary for Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology. She served as an advisor for both the 10th World CBT Congress in Seoul, South Korea 2023 and 8th Asian CBT Congress in New Delhi, India in 2024.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has appointed Dr Firdaus as CBT Expert Consultant in Malaysia. In 2012, she was awarded the Young Scientist Award by Loreal Malaysia due to her excellent contribution in research on CBT.

Madam Nurniza Nisbar
NICU Pharmacist, Hospital Putrajaya

Madam Nurniza bt Nisbar is a qualified pharmacist with a strong academic background and extensive experience in various healthcare settings. She graduated with honors, receiving a Master of Pharmacy from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom in 2006. She further pursued her education and obtained a Master of Clinical Pharmacy in 2014 from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

Throughout her career, she has worked in esteemed institutions such as Hospital Tg Ampuan Afzan Kuantan, Hospital Sg Buloh, and PKD Petaling. Currently, she serves as a NICU Pharmacist at Hospital Putrajaya and holds the position of Head of Unit for Ward Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacokinetics. Since 2016, she has been the state representative of the Clinical Working Committee (Ward Pharmacy), actively contributing to the development of local facility protocols and guidelines.

She takes pride in her involvement in important projects, including the creation of essential resources such as the Paediatric Dose Handy Dosing Card, NICU Drug Database, and Hospital Drug Dilution guidelines. Additionally, she has participated in multicentre research projects under the Clinical Working Committee, showcasing her dedication to advancing pharmaceutical knowledge and practices.

Dr. Janet Hong Yeow Hua
Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist, Hospital Putrajaya

Dr. Janet Hong Yeow Hua is a Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Endocrinologist at Hospital Putrajaya, where she also serves as the Head of the Paediatric Department.

She leads the Paediatric Endocrine Subspecialty at MOH Malaysia and plays an active role in medical education as a trainer for the National Paediatric Endocrine Subspecialty Training.

Additionally, she is a member of the MOH Rare Disease Committee, Deputy Chairperson of the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrine & Diabetes Group (MPEDG), and an Executive Council Member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS).

Dr. Janet has contributed extensively to paediatric endocrinology research, with publications in reputable journals covering diabetes management, genetic disorders, and metabolic diseases.

Her work includes studies on diabetes care databases, novel genetic mutations, and endocrine treatments in children. Through her leadership, research, and clinical expertise, she plays a vital role in advancing paediatric endocrinology in Malaysia.

Datuk Dr. Zanariah Hussein

Datuk Dr. Zanariah Hussein is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Physician at Hospital Putrajaya, where she is the Head of the Endocrinology Subspecialty Service. She obtained an MBBS from the University of Malaya and an MRCP from Edinburgh, UK. She holds various educational administrative positions including the Chairperson for the Endocrine Fellowship Training Program, Honorary Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine UiTM, UKM, and UM as well as a member and Ministry of Health representative for the Specialty Conjoint Board for Masters of Internal Medicine.

Datuk Dr. Zanariah is an active member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society, the Asia Pacific Neuroendocrine Tumour Society, the National Diabetes Institute, The Endocrine Society, USA, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. She is and has been an Investigator and Co-Investigator in over 40 multicentre clinical trials and has published in over 50 national and international peer-reviewed journals.

Prof. Dr. Norlaila Mustafa
Consultant Endocrinologist, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM Medical Centre

Norlaila Mustafa graduated from National University of Malaysia (UKM), with a degree in medicine in 1995 (BSc. MD) and completed an internship, and then medical officer training at Hospital UKM. She received her Master in Internal Medicine in 2002 from UKM, after which she underwent endocrinology training until 2004.

She then pursued her study in the field of diabetes and conferred a doctorate of Medicine, MD for her research on insulin resistance and beta cell function at the Diabetes Research Unit, Llandough Hospital, Cardiff University. She came back and joined the Endocrinology Unit, Department of Medicine as a lecturer, and three years later was awarded as an honorary lecturer by Cardiff University from 2009 until 2015.

Her passion is to educate people on managing diabetes and obesity and served as an advisor for the Diabetes Nurse Educator Course, HCTM since 2007 and advisor for the Malaysian Diabetes Educator Society (MDES) since 2021. She has been awarded several research grants and collaborated with industries. Her research interests focus on diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. She is a Council member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS) and a Board of Trustee for the National Diabetes Institute (NADI). She currently serves as the Professor of Medicine and Consultant Endocrinologist at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, UKM Medical Centre, and Visiting Endocrinologist at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

Dr. Navin Kumar Loganadan
Endocrine Pharmacist, Hospital Putrajaya

Dr. Navin Kumar Loganadan is the Head of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services & Diabetes Medication Therapy Adherence Clinic (DMTAC) at the Endocrine Institute, Putrajaya Hospital, Malaysia. With 17 years of experience as a Diabetes Clinical Pharmacist in the Ministry of Health (MOH), he specializes in managing medication adherence, insulin adjustments, injection techniques, and hypoglycemia management for type 2 diabetes patients.

Dr. Navin holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.) and a Master of Clinical Pharmacy from the National University of Malaysia (UKM), and a Ph.D. in pharmacogenomics of antidiabetic therapy from the University of Malaya. His research focuses on diabetes pharmacogenomics, the clinical response to antidiabetic therapy, and pharmacists' roles in diabetes management.

He has presented at international conferences, including the American Diabetes Association and International Diabetes Federation. Recognized globally, he received the Next Generation Scientist Award 2016 from the University of Basel and the Young Investigator Award 2009 from Malaysia’s National Diabetes Institute. He also trained at the Diabetes Research Program, New York University.

Currently, Dr. Navin chairs the Diabetes Clinical Pharmacy Subcommittee, MOH Malaysia, and serves as a national preceptor for the Malaysia Advanced Clinical Pharmacy Programme (MyACPP) – Diabetes subspecialization. He has contributed as an Advisor for the FIP Practice Transformation Programme – Diabetes (2021) and a committee member for the FIP Statement of Policy on Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (2024).

In recognition of his contributions to hospital and clinical pharmacy, Dr. Navin was honored with the Ishidate Award (Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy Section) 2024 by the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA) in Seoul, Korea.

Ms. Won Zi Yun
Clinical Pharmacist, Hospital Putrajaya

Ms. Won Zi Yun is an experienced clinical pharmacist, marked by dedication and a broad range of expertise. With over a decade of experience in the Diabetes Medication Therapy Adherence Clinic (DMTAC), her appointment as a DMTAC preceptor in 2024 further highlights her leadership and mentoring capabilities. In addition to her work with diabetes, Ms. Won has also contributed significantly to paediatric pharmacy, including developing the National Paediatric Pharmacy Service Guidelines and serving as secretary of the Paediatric Pharmacy Working Committee (2016-2017). In addition, she has expertise in aseptic production, particularly in Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), and mentors pharmacy students.

Ms. Won is active in research and Quality Assurance (QA), winning 1st prize at the Mini Convention QA JKWP KL&P for her study on reducing paediatric medication errors.

Overall, Ms. Won Zi Yun exemplifies the qualities of a dedicated and well-rounded clinical pharmacist with a passion for education, research, and patient care.

Dr. Tong Chin Voon
Consultant Endocrinologist, Hospital Putrajaya

Dr Tong Chin Voon attained her MD from UKM followed by MRCP and FRCP from Royal College of Physicians (London). She completed her Endocrinology fellowship with the Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2015 and is now practicing in Malacca General Hospital. She is actively involved in research and publications. Her special interests include Type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetes in youth and adrenal disorders.

Dr. Nurain Mohd Noor
Senior Consultant Endocrinologist, Hospital Putrajaya

Dr. Nurain is a consultant physician and endocrinologist, currently serving in Hospital Putrajaya. She is also the Head of the Endocrinology Subspecialty Service in the Ministry of Health, Malaysia.

She obtained her medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Malaya in 1994. Later, she pursued her postgraduate studies in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, graduating with a Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in 2002.

She is now the Head of Department of the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) in Hospital Putrajaya and is appointed Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society.

Dr Nurain has a strong passion in raising health awareness among the general public, as she was one of the panelists on the media dialogue on Women and Health organised by the New Straits Times in 2017.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yazid Jalaludin

Professor Dr Muhammad Yazid Jalaludin is The Deputy Dean (Undergraduate Studies) at the Faculty of Medicine, University Malaya. He is a Professor of Paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya and a practicing Senior Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), USA after obtaining his MBBS and Masters in Paediatrics, both from Universiti Malaya.

He is currently the Chairman of the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Group (MPEDG), Vice President of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS 2022-2024), and executive council member of the Diabetes Malaysia (2023-2025). Prof Jalaludin's main research interest is in obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, growth (nutrition) and vitamin D in children.

He holds many national and international research grants and acts as Scientific Advisor and Expert Panel member for many multi-centre international researches for type 2 diabetes, obesity and growth hormone in children. His work has been published in various academic journals including in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM).

Mr. Albert Ting Siong Hung
Clinical Pharmacist, Hospital Umum Sarawak

Mr. Albert Ting is the DMTAC Pharmacist and Diabetes Ward Pharmacist at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH). He earned his Bachelor of Pharmacy from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2006. He began his career at SGH in 2008 as an Endocrine/Diabetes Ward Pharmacist, a role he held until 2019, before being transferred to Klinik Kesihatan Petra Jaya as Chief Pharmacist.

In August 2024, he returned to Sarawak General Hospital, resuming his commitment to diabetes care. Throughout his tenure, he has played a crucial role in treating and educating diabetic patients as part of the SGH Diabetes Team.

He is recognized as the first DMTAC pharmacist and DMTAC trainer in Sarawak. Since 2008, Mr. Ting has been an active member of the National Clinical Pharmacy Working Committee (Diabetes Care Subspecialty).

His contributions have been instrumental in the development and promotion of DMTAC services in Malaysia. His work includes involvement in Malaysia DMTAC Protocol, DMTAC Training Modules and Pocket Guide to Insulin Optimization.

His dedication to diabetes management, pharmacy practice, and patient education continues to make a lasting impact on the healthcare system.

Prof. Dr. Barakatun Nisak Mohd Yusof
Deputy Dean Academic (Health Sciences) and Student Affairs’, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia

Barakatun Nisak Bt Mohd Yusof is a professor and Deputy Dean of Academic (Health Sciences) and Students' Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She is a practising dietitian specializing in metabolic obesity and diabetes.

Additionally, she serves as President of the Malaysian Dietitian Association (MDA) and as a council member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS), along with being the Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Society of Obesity (MYOS).

Dr. Nisak earned her PhD in Dietetics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Joslin Diabetes Centre, Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on improving metabolic control and quality of life in individuals with type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, and obesity. She collaborates with the Ministry of Health, industry partners, and professional associations to develop diabetes nutrition guidelines such as "Clinical Practice Guidelines for Adults with Type 2 Diabetes" and "Diabetes in Pregnancy." Notably, she initiated the Ramadan Nutrition Plan initiative for people with diabetes and received The Malaspina International Scholar Travel (MIST) Award for her work in diabetes nutrition.

Dr. Arini Nuran Md Idris
Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist, Hospital Putrajaya

Dr. Arini Nuran Binti Md Idris is a Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Endocrinologist, currently leading the Department of Paediatrics at Hospital Putrajaya. With over 27 years of service in the Ministry of Health Malaysia, she has been instrumental in advancing paediatric and endocrine services nationwide.

Dr. Arini graduated with an MB.BCh from the University of Leicester, UK, and later obtained a Master of Medicine in Paediatrics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She further specialised in paediatric endocrinology through a fellowship under the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrine Committee. Her extensive clinical experience includes appointments at Hospital Tunku Azizah Kuala Lumpur, Institut Pediatrik Hospital Kuala Lumpur, and various university medical centres.

At the national level, Dr. Arini plays an active role in policy development, clinical practice guidelines, and research related to paediatric endocrinology. She is a committed member of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS) and the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrine & Diabetes Group (MPEDG), contributing to subspecialty training and service development. As a dedicated trainer and examiner, she is involved in capacity-building programs for postgraduate trainees and subspecialty candidates.

Dr. Arini is also a frequent speaker, chairperson, and subject matter expert at national and international conferences. Her expertise includes growth disorders, paediatric diabetes, obesity, bone health, and neonatal endocrinology.

In addition to her clinical and academic roles, Dr. Arini is passionate about child health advocacy and community engagement. She actively participates in programs such as paediatric diabetes camps and the “Journey of a 1000 Days” campaign. Through her leadership, dedication, and contributions, she continues to shape and elevate paediatric endocrine care in Malaysia.
